As you will probably know travelling with a pre existing medical condition can create issues especially if receiving treatment whilst on holiday.

Past experiences pointed to the fact that some of our clients were receiving quotes that were so high they were unable to travel and others being given quotes that were low enough to indicate either that the agent didn't properly understand the clients situation or that their policy would have been next to useless in the event of a claim.

So in this section I thought I would go through a few items that you need to be aware of, incidently previously we always included a list of insurance agents in our initial correspondence in order that our clients could start shopping around for their travel policy, this included various companies however they regularly change 'what and where' they will cover and this became a little limiting.

How soon can I take out travel insurance, do I have to take it out before or after booking the holiday?

We advise you to arrange your travel insurance as soon as you book your trip to ensure you are covered for cancellation and curtailment.

What is Travelling Companion cover?

Travelling companion cover offers cover for travelling companions insured under another travel insurance provider for cancellation and curtailment due to your pre-existing medical conditions.

What is a Cruise specific policy?

A cruise is a unique holiday, and specialist cruise insurance will cover you for the particular issues that might arise, such as being confined to your stateroom in case of illness, or missing a planned port visit It also provides additional cover , if you need to cancel your cruise for any reason, of up to the insured amount.

What is a pre-existing medical condition?

If you have taken any prescribed medication or required medical treatment with the last two years, or been a registered in or out-patient in the last two years.

Why do I need cover for my pre-existing medical condition(s)?

When travelling abroad medical treatment can be very expensive. Should you require assistance without comprehensive cover it could be a very costly experience.

I am travelling abroad for treatment. What cover can you offer me?

We offer a travel insurance called “AllClear Treatment Abroad” this provides cover for those travelling abroad for treatment/surgeries. Although we can provide the insurance, this does not cover any complications of the treatment/surgery. This insurance is designed for cancellation of the trip and cover if you required staying at the destination for extra time to heal (as requested by a doctor).

Are you able to quote and provide cover for a condition that has not yet been diagnosed?

We can only screen a condition that has been diagnosed by a medical practitioner, and therefore we cannot provide a quote or offer cover until such time as your condition has been diagnosed.

My treatment is soon to finish should I wait?

No, just answer the questions as of today. If you are still having treatment, even if it finishes tomorrow, answer yes because you are still having treatment today.

I am taking medication to control my condition do I still need to declare it?

Yes, you need to declare all medical conditions including those that are under control. This is important as otherwise a claim may be invalidated if all material facts are not disclosed.
